How to Configure Drupal Adsense Module, Edit Colors with Custom Channels Tutorial

Posted in: Programming

This quick write up will explain and show you how to configure the drupal adsense module. I’ll go through the steps I learned while setting up a new Ludacris FanSite with drupal, on how to edit the colors so that they may match your site as well as how to set a custom channel. I’m using the module found on this drupal.org page.

How to Configure Drupal Adsense Module and Edit Colors

A good practice for uploading any module or plugin is to actually read the readme file thats almost always included in the download package.  Here’s what the readme tells us…

To enable this module, visit Administer -> Site building -> Modules, and enable adsense, and one of the other modules in the Adsense group.
To configure it, go to Administer -> Site configuration -> AdSense.

Here’s a look at the Home » Administer » Site building » Modules page that we use to enable the module.

The next step is to visit the adsense site configuration page to configure the settings. You’ll find this at Home » Administer » Site configuration. Make sure to choose how you’d like the ads to show at the settings tab.

Next click the “Old Code Ads” tab.  It is in the old code space where you’ll set up the look of your ads. Please note that you must choose an “Ad group”.

Add “Custom channels” if you have any, shown below.

The last steps requires us to visit “Site building” to actually add the ads to the site as a block. Goto Home » Administer » Site building to click on blocks. Here’s an example of how I configured a 728×90 leader board ad.

Be sure to assign the 728×90 block to a region, slider to be exact.  See the image below to clear up any confusion.
